Dear Parents/Guardians and Friends of St Malachy's,
Our school is entering an exciting new phase of its development and our School Council members are seeking your help! Over the coming weeks, we will be forming a new school vision and mission statement which will guide us into the future, while preserving the values we have upheld in St Malachy's Primary School for many years.
Our last Vision and Mission Statement was formed before the impact of the Covid Pandemic, when Ticktok was virtually unknown. 'Learning Together, Supporting Each Other and Always Doing Our Best' was chosen in consultation with our pupils, parents, staff and governors at that time, and along with our Mission Statement, it has helped to unite and guide our school community well for ten years. However, the time has come to once again to ask everyone about where we are headed in the future and what we wish to retain from the past.
This process begins with deciding and agreeing upon the purpose and core values of our school. Our pupils have made many suggestions about what they think are important core values eg. Friendship, Learning, Faith and Respect being a few. With their help, we have compiled a long list, which we now need to reduce to around five or six. These values will be embedded in school life in the years ahead to help form kind, caring and well informed young adults who will be able to face a fast changing world and become the adults and parents of the future.
Our school council and staff will collate the results of the completed surveys in early June and then select the most popular values are 'Core Values' of our school community.
